We Asked an Expert What CBD Can Do for Diabetes Patients. Here’s What He Said

How can cannabidiol (CBD) help people manage their diabetes?

Insulin resistance is a key factor in prediabetes and Type 2 diabetes. Researchers aren’t totally sure how CBD works to treat insulin resistance, but many believe that credit belongs to CBD’s powerful anti-inflammatory benefits, which provide better overall health to people with diabetes.

Are there health benefits of using cannabidiol for diabetes?

In order to understand the benefits of CBD, you must first understand the endocannabinoid system. It is a group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors located in the brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous system, and their receptors. CBD specifically interacts with the CB1 and CB2 receptors that send signals to wake up and strengthen the immune system naturally.

This is because our endocannabinoid system is intricately linked to our nervous, immune, and digestive systems, as well as our brain.

Why did you want to get involved with CBD?

Many years ago, I discovered CBD E Liquid while researching alternative methods to treat health issues for several family members. I started making CBD E Liquid for them. After I saw how it helped, I recognized this was an incredible product that helped people and I decided to get into the CBD business. That was over five years ago and today my CBD company has helped millions of people become more healthy.

What do you find to be the most exciting part of CBD research right now?

The fact that CBD is such a hot topic right now that every day more organizations are dedicating resources toward research. Every day there are more studies being done and more information is getting into the public’s hands.

Thus far, what are the proven health benefits of CBD for those with conditions like diabetes?

CBD is a neuroprotectant, natural anti-inflammatory and natural pain reliever. CBD is used to promote one’s overall health and well-being. There are currently multiple studies being conducted on the benefits of CBD for diabetics. What we need is the FDA to help look into and approve these methods so that consumers know they are proven and regulated. We have seen signs of this beginning to happen. Recently, the FDA approved cannabis-derived products to help treat people for seizures in patients 2 years old and older.

What can be done to reduce the stigma related to medical cannabidiol?

The consumer needs to empower themselves to ask the right questions to determine where their product comes from, how it was made, who it was made by, and what ingredients and milligrams are inside their products. Education is key at the federal, state, and consumer levels.
